    Composition history Kibler notes that this poem was published in the Charleston Daily News.  He also notes that ''This periodical is as yet unlocated.  It ran from 1865-1872.'' (Poetry 201)

    As Simms died in 1870, it could not have been published any later than that year for him to cut it out and paste it into this scrapbook.
