Composition history A note in the Letters states that their text ''is from Catalogue of the Entire Collection of Autographs of the Late Mr. I.K. Tefft, of Savannah, Ga. (New York: Leavitt, Strebeigh & Col, 1867), pp.20-23'' (Letters 4:607n).

While the text of that letter and the present clipping are the same, differences in pagination indicate that this is from a different, unidentified source.
