    • The Poetry of William Gilmore Simms: An Introduction and Bibliography
Composition history ''The Last of the Yemassees.''  Early Lays (1827), 65.

''The Last of the Yemassees.''  The Book of My Lady (1833), 316-319. [Conjectured source of clipping]
Description ''He fought his nation's foes 'til night ...''

Clipping reads: [fragment of prose introduction]
    Notes Position: whole page

The first four stanzas and the first two lines of fifth stanza are included twice, once at the beginning and once end of page.  The final three stanzas of poem do not appear at all.

Kibler does not provide a source for clipping, but based on line breaks and the fragment of a prose introduction at the beginning of poem, it appears to be from The Book of My Lady.
