David Aiken teaches at Charleston Southern University. He has written an
introduction to Simms's The Cassique of Kiawah and is currently at work on
Simms's The Golden Christmas and The Wigwam and the Cabin.

Frank A. Coleman, a true Renaissance man, is an artist well-known in the South,
a founder of the Artists' Guild of South Carolina, a past officer of the Spartanbur
County Historical Association, and a moving force in the preservation of Walnut
Grove Plantation in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. He is the great great
grandson of Simms's friend, the Captain A.J. Daniel of his article. Coleman now
lives at Mountain Shoals Plantation, Enoree, S.C.

Deborah Bowden Henson is the International Admissions Counselor for the
Graduate School at the University of Georgia and the Associate
Organist/Choirmaster at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Athens. She is a doctoral
student in Musicology and holds M.M. and B.Mus. degrees in performance.

James E. Kibler is most recently the editor of Selected Poems of William Gilmore
Simms and co-author of William Gilmore Simms: A Reference Guide.

Clyde N. Wilson is Professor of History at the University of South Carolina,
editor of the Papers of John C. Calhoun, essayist, and biographer. He has
published on Simms for the Dictionary of Literary Biography.
