Transcription SIMMS FEATURED ON NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO

Simms was featured on "Storyline-Southeast" on 10 October 1999. The series is hosted
by novelist Doris Betts of UNC-Chapel Hill, where the series will originate from WUNC-
FM. The program was begun under the auspices of American Library Association. The
show will run for thirteen consecutive weeks. Society member Mary Ann Wimsatt was
the Simms scholar featured.

LITERARY TREASURE

Simms Society member David Aiken has just published two works of interest to students
of Simms. The first is advertised at p. 45 of this issue. The second is his literary history of Charleston, in which he has a long central chapter on Simms. This work, entitled Fire
