Transcription NEW BRADY-HANDY IMAGE OF SIMMS

In the Library of Congress, in the Brady-Handy photograph collection appears
this image of Simms, classified by LC as "Sims, Wm Gilmore Sims?" The
misspelling no doubt has prevented scholars from finding it. LC lists the date
as ca. 1860-1865. Brady was in Columbia to photograph the ruins left by
Sherman. It is likely then that he made this image, indeed, if by him. LC states
it to be either by Brady or Levin Handy. The image is now in the public
domain, according to Wikipedia Commons. Call number is LC-BH824-4877
in the Prints and Photos Division, Brady-Handy Photo Collection.
